This is it. The last weekend before the kids go back to school! For the kids out there, you’re onto new beginnings - fresh notebooks, new teachers and reuniting with friends. For you parents, we’re sure you’ve got a sense of both relief and chaos!!

Back to School Safety

🚸 Back to school means a return to School Zones. Though students might not be back this week, school zones are in effect from Friday 31 January. So please slow down, stay alert and watch for kids crossing.

Returning to school also means the fun tradition of back-to-school photos (say cheese!!!!).

The Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE) led by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) reminds parents and carers to take privacy precautions before posting your back to school photos online.

While incidents are rare, they do happen, and it’s always wise to be proactive with your online safety and keeping your information safe.

Your privacy check-up should include the following:

• Checking your privacy settings and making sure your social media accounts are secure and set to private or ‘friends only;

• Checking the privacy settings on the device you are using

• If another person is taking photos of your child, have a discussion around how the photos will be used and shared

• Ensure the background doesn’t give away your address or location. Don’t post your location or ‘check in’

• Keep your child’s uniform logo hidden, or blur it out

• Keep your child’s personal information, including their full name and age private.

The local farmers market is back after the holiday break, bringing a burst of fresh energy to the weekend! Vendors are stocked with seasonal produce, homemade jams and freshly baked goods.
